Coin of the bit

There is no shortage of news about Bitcoin. And what I know about cryptocurrency wouldn’t even fill a thimble. However, I’ve noticed an interesting bit of information. A innovative company called stripe.com, a service provider that allows anyone to easily accept credit card payments, has added bitcoin to their lineup of accepted payments. If your customers pay with traditional plastic you will be charged 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction. (Just like with PayPal) However, if you get paid in Bitcoin the fee is a flat 0.5% per transaction. Anyone can set up a free bitcoin wallet (like at coinbase.com) and make a payment. This is not breaking news, but the ability to accept bitcoin by adding a ‘single line of code’ to your checkout cart can cut transaction costs by 2.4% is notable. Now I guess all that’s left to do is wait for the mainstream public to start stocking up on coins.
